Friendship (a composition)
You'll learn in this course that the typical paragraph structure for a composition in English includes a topic sentence (the main idea) and the rest of the paragraph contains one or more examples to illustrate the main idea. Give it a go... share with your class a brief composition about a close friend. Make it at least 3 paragraphs.

My friend Martha and I have many things in common; we practice softball in our school and can talk for long hours about our interests.
I think there are a few things that we have different; In the High School Martha practiced basketball and I don´t like it.
The differences between Martha and me are not important due to I like learning about different ideas. We practiced sport in the High School but it was different; Martha basketball and I racquetball. I don´t understand the basketball until Martha explain me.
Martha is an honest person, but I am timid.
Martha and I are both friendly and helpful. We like listening the same music, practice the same sport, study the same career. We met in class. We always help us when we have problems.
Although we have things in common, every time we get together and I could discover news similarities and differences. One reason for I want to preserve this friendship is Martha is a good person and she is confidant, a good listener. Moreover, I complement whit her, and Martha complement with me.

I can’t say that I have just one best friend because in our group of friends are three girls, their names are Jessica and Monserrat. Even we were together in the same group in High School, I met them in different ways, fist I met Monse then later on I met Jessica, I introduced them the first week of classes; until that day we have became good friends.
Jessica, Monse and I are totally different. I can say that I’m the shiest in the group, Jessica is more extrovert, but not as Monse is. I’m the most organized and Monse is a complete mess. She also is the most liberal of us, in the way of open-minded. About Jessica, she is the friendliest.
Even our differences, we have an important thing in common- we love dancing, in other words we like music like Immortals, grupero, etc. Every now and then we go dancing with our boyfriends, except for Jessica, she goes with a friend. We enjoy talking for hours, without getting worried of the time. We also love going to the movies and to the café as well. Whenever we meet we share the best time.
However I love them, I have to accept that I get along better with Jessica, that is because we share an extra characteristic in our lives, we sing in a choir at church. Therefore I meet her more frequently.
I have shared all kind of situations with them, both are supportive, and adding me, we harmonize in the best way possible. I’m really glad they are in my life.
Could your boyfriend be your best friend?
People has different believes about this topic. Some persons say that it’s impossible because of their differences, for example: women thinks that men are bad listeners and men think that women are always talking. On the order hand some people believe that opposites do attract and the best relationship even in friends is with both man and women. How we could know witch one is correct?
In my case my best friend is a man, actually he’s more than a friend, he’s my boyfriend. When I know him (like 2 years ago) we were just acquaintances; I couldn’t imagine that he will become in my best friend and boyfriend! A lot of girls who have a best friend among man finish having him like a boyfriend. In contrast with them, I had a boyfriend who became in my best friend.
Perhaps, you may ask to yourself, how he became in my best friend. Well I want to tell you. First of all he is not like the other gays; he listens to me all the time and always gives me an opinion (he is very honest by the way). Also he never lost any detail in my conversations. In addition, he knows keep my secrets which make him my best confidant. And if that wasn't enough we are almost all the time together and have long conversations every day.
Although, I have a lot of different comments about this topic, speaking personally, I have to say that nobody can tell you a best answer than your own experiences. From my point of view I’m thankful that I’m living the best experience I have ever had and I wish you could have it one day.
My best friend is Maricela. We meet in a really weird situation. In our first days at FACEC, one of our teachers told us to make teams for a class. I was in a team i dont really like a lot and i start asking maricela for help. At last, Maricela and me end in the same team, and since then we share all time together at FACEC.
We have lots of things in common, so many that sometimes people ask us if we are sisters or if we already know each other when we enter to FACEC. We both love to do things such as going to casinos, i know that if theres a person who will always come with me to casinos is Mary. We also share interests like going to the movies, going to restaurants, and so many others. Interesting is that the things i dont like to do, are the things she dosent like to do. We both like to meet new people.
But as all friends, we also clash in so many things. For example, she is a serious person with other people, but not with me, and i am very happy and talkative with everybody. Something bad about us, is that we both are very proud, and sometimes when we have discussions we take some time to talk again.
I´m sure our friendship will last forever, cause the thigs we share and have in common are more than the ones in where we clash. And I´m happy i meet her, cause FACEC wouldnt be the same without her.
Andrea Grimaldo Bovio
Paola, Ana Lucia, Andrea and Stephanie are my best friends. I don't like to choose only one of them 'cause the 4 are so important to me. Even when we are so different from each other we all love to travel and hang out and that's what keep us together.
The most adventorous of us is Stephanie, she's the one that creat and come up with ideas of a variety of places we can go. Although Ana Lucia and I are the organizers. We have been in Mazatlan, San Antonio, Houston, Victoria, etc. And next summer we are planning to visit Stephanie in Switzerland and Ana Lucia in France and also make an Eurotrip.
We are different 'cause some of us are shy when the others are very outgoing. We study different carrers. Paola and Andrea like Nutrition, and Ana and I Economics.
But after all these things we have always a great time when we are together and be there for each other no matter what, and tha's what friendship is about.

I met Alonso when I was in secondary school, actually we hate us. We never talked but if he said something wrong in classes I was joking of him and he of me. One time we were in a school party, started to discuss and we almost fight... in the end all goes easy.
After few years we continue in the same school, so in highschool he and I have the same friends in common We started talking and play soccer and things like guys do in the break. I knew better and I found that we have the same ideas or interests.
In the last year I used to to bring at his home after the shool, we usually went at pools, play tenis or partys. Alonso converted in one of better friends in the school.
Now like Im in Mty. we dont see us very often, just in reunions of the school and thinsg like that. Hes studying accounting even do is great see him.

My best friend is from Ciudad Victoria Tamaulipas and I met him since we had 4 years at kinder but at that age you don`t really know what a best friend means. We went to the same elementary school but at that time we don`t really know as well as now.
When we start to be friends was at the age of 13 years when we where on middle school because the school we were was far from our houses so in the morning his parents go for me to my house and when we go out from school my parents go for us that`s the way we started to be friends.
Then on high school our friendship got stronger but he changes from school, but we still talking and hanging out. When I go to Ciudad Victoria almost everytime we go out to dinner with other friends.
Some ther things we have in common are music and some hobbies like looking some Tv programs like soccer and some MTV programs. I wish we sill being friends becase we passed really good moments and i have no doubt that more are to come.

I don’t have only one best friend, I have three best friends that I have many things in common with them, their names are Nadia, Eva and Wergine but in this case I want to talk about my friendship with my friend Wergine.
I met to Wergine in High School we were in the same classroom and we started to talk until to be friends. We have a lot of things in common. One of them is that we love to go shopping. Last year we went to Mc Allen and we spent all day in the shops but the best is that we like the same things. In that time we worked so we had another thing in common.
But also we have differences between us, one is that she is studying law, she likes to read and know about laws. In my case I like more mathematics and something to do with numbers. I know she loves her career and I love my career. I remember when we were in High School I explained her Math and she helped me with Ethics, that were a good times.
Wergine and I have a close friendship, every weekend we go out together, we go to parties or wherever. She is intelligent, mature, a good listener and a good friend.
Although we have a different ways, I think our friendship is very important for her and for me because never I forget the moments with her and I am convinced that our friendship is forever.
Personally I don’t have just only one best friend I have a lot of gold friends because I still keep in touch with them and I love to hang out with them all the time, they are really good friends because no matter what happen they are there to help me in the good and the bad times.
We all are different in so many ways and we are similar in others, in my case I’m very loud and hyperactive and I can’t stay quiet In the same place jajajjaja in contrast of my other friends cause they are very quiet and they don’t make a lot of noise except for Chuy cause he is even more louder than I am, he is hyperactive, the point is that we doesn’t need to be similar in all the ways to get along everybody
One of the things that I have in common with my oldest friend is that we both are very similar.
When I first met him we were so young we were 13 years old, I think we get along very well because he is a boy scout and I was a kind of scout the difference is that we don’t go very often to camping, and the point is that we have a lot of things in common and over the years we both changes in similar ways and similar hobbies but in other things we clash. Very often we clash and it’s very funny because we start to argue about silly things and he gets mad then I go crazy and in the end everything get solved and we laugh a lot and we appreciate every moment we spent together.

My best friend Arturo and I are so similars, the best test of that, is when I meet he, we was making disasters in the school, we enjoy the same kind of music and food. This little things make the friendship makes a little fun.
But when I see the things where we are so different, is when I can see the really friendship and the really fun, in the way I think and he thinks are so different, religion, sports, we got diferents majors, he loves everything about designer, and I likes maths. This details are the really important in the relationship, because that makes you learn more thinkings and makes you be more open mind.
He and I got a lot of adventures, I meet him since high school, and whit the years we are being constructing an endure relationship
I have 4 best friends, Juan, Alberto, Luis and Ivan. The 4 of like different things.
We all have different majors, different ways to see the life and even different religions.
We don't usually meet each other on weekdays because we all are busy but we try to meet at least once a week and have some fun together.
We used to meet each other everyday when we were like 15 years old though.
We became good friends because all of us used to to biking together almost everyday. We used to go to the mountains and spend all the day there.
But once we all started studying at the university we stoppoed going biking together, we just go biking together once in a blue moon.
But anyways, eventhough we cant go biking together anymore we still can have some fun together and we still have many things in common.
It's hard for me choose only one friend. For start, i have pretty good friends in collage, that is why i just can't choose one, I have lived so many things with them, Jose Luis, Berna, Roberto, Ricardo, Ulises. We have do almost everything, since cooking to go to la presa de la boca and have some beers.
Unlike the general opinion, we are talking must of the time. We don't just hang out and say: "dude", we talk and laugh, we fool around, and share opinions over diferents subjects.
I know that i can count with them for everything. They'll be there for me anytime, anywhere, anyhow... And i'll be there for them as well.

My best friend is named Mariel. I met her when we were in High School, we were never in the same room but we had many friends in common. In High School we spoke recently, he was in college when we became very close, although we are studying different courses. We do not have too long to know, but we have a friendly fun, honest and full of confidence.
Mariel and I do not have many things in common. For example, she does not like math so much and I love them. She studies Nutrition and I Economy, it usually has too much energy and I am a little more quiet. So what we are physically very different, she is very high and I am small and sometimes, a little fool. Mariel is very patient and tolerant, on the contrary I'm more explosive and intolerant. But despite all these differences, we got along very well and we have great affection.
Between Mariel and I are not only differences, we also have some things in common. One is that we like to go out partying a lot with our other friends, we like to make new friends and we are very extroverted. This has enabled us to spend a very pleasant and fun. One is when we went on a trip to Guanajuato last Summer, on that trip we met many people with whom we continue talking. That trip was very fun, well let us know more and made us do it closer.
I think friendship is very important in our lives, as it is very nice to share good and bad moments with a good friend. I think that a true friendship is trust, loyalty, honesty and caring. I know that in time will strengthen the friendship and hope that my friendship with Mariel lasts forever.

Since I was in elementary school, I’ve been meeting amazing friends, but just a few of them are unforgettable.
One of my best friends is Deby, we don’t meet too much since we are in college, so I rarely see her. However, when I meet with her, I feel that nothing has changed, and we talk for hours about anything, and most of the time, things without sense.
Eder is also my best friend. He is always there, and he never forget about us (Deby and me).
But I have always said that every part or my education, since elementary school, I have made new friends, and also best friends. I say that because we spend a lot of the time together and talk about everything. We do new things and we share everything, even our homework, and we start to plan activities for the future.
We also care about each other and when someone of us is having a difficult situation, we are with him and try to cheer him.
I really enjoy more talking about funny things than talking about our secrets. That’s one of the things I don’t have in common with my girl friends, because they are more like talk and talk about what happened last week and things like that, and when that happens I don’t know why I get distracted, so they said I don’t pay them attention.
That’s why I can say that I have a few best friends, no just Deby and Eder, also my college friends and my boy friend, of course. I don’t thing that a best friend is the one that you tell him all your secrets, I thing a real best friend is the one that you spend the best moments of your life with and never forget them.
Ana Lucia Molina
One thing I have to tell before write about a close friend, is that I didn’t pass a lot of time with them. I saw my friends from time to time. We are in different faculties and have different activities, the schedule is varied, so is difficult to match.
Unless that, the relationship I kept with a good friend is strong. I know it, because, when I see one of them, the talk we start is like if time makes no difference. When we organize something, in a birthday or a meeting with purpose turning to see us, we remember old times, we had a great time.
Angie is a friend that I met in high school. I discober that she was, and still is, my neighbor. In way home, we start to talk. Something I found in her, that I think made me her friend, is that she is so sweet, and I`m a little. She is a great person, a good confidant. Also, she is a little crazy, and me too. As well, we like quiet parties.
We also have differences. The music that she listen is one that I’m not accustomed. She is more “open”. Also, she speaks very well the english,and me not, =(, but I’m in process.

Well, I've five best friends, their names are Raul, Eduardo, Jonathan, Jose Carlos and Adriana. I would like to write about a friend who has been my best friend since pre-school, Raul Gonzalez.
We are studying in different countries but this doesn’t prevent to meet us, one the advantages is that I’ from Miguel Aleman, Tamps. and he’s from Roma, Texas. When Raul was a kid, he lives in Miguel Aleman too and we went to the same school. The things that we’ve in common maybe not are too many, one thing is that we like go to the parties and meet old friends, another one is play tennis because we lo to play this sport and this is one of the form that we can meet us sometimes.
Also we’re different, the distance sometimes apart us, because the different countries and universities we have obtained different forms to live, he’s more independent because that is the way it works in the US; they raise their children as independent as possible and in Mexico the children are more home-loving. The principal difference is the carriers that we’re studying, he is a Civil Engineer and I am almost Economist.
We can conclude from those paragraphs that the distance between friends doesn’t prevent to keep in touch, the friendship is very important and we have to found the forms to communicate when we’re so far. Raul and I would be friends forever like we have done until now.

I have had many friends but there is one who is closer than others. We have been in the same kinder but then he went to another elementary school and we didn't meet us until junior high school, so we lost communication for 6 years.
We were in the same classroom the first and the third year but we were close to each other because we also had friends in common. We play soccer and videogames and sometimes he invites me to parties etc.
We were also in the same high school but not in the same classroom nevertheless we've been watching us with other friends from junior high.
Nowadays, we go to play soccer, videogames, etc very often since we live very close.
My friend Daniela, is my best friends because we have many things in common. We get along each other pretty good, i must say, and only by minimum differences, we share the same interests.
I met daniela in school, and since then we have been friends. A friend of mine introduced me to daniela and she made fun about my laugh, so we started talking and joking. Therefore we began knowing each other and becoming best friends.
As friends, Daniela and I always hang out and do stuff together. BOth of us love to make bids, so we make bids out of everything, although I barely win, I enjoy this bids with her too much. Also she is very competitive, and so am I , so we spend time playing and trying to defeat each other but we always know is just a game.
Although we have disagreements and different opinions, and some times we clash for senseless things, we have continued talking even though we now are in different schools, and we hadn´t drift apart.
